Meet the Characters

Louie: Louie is the main character, in the beginning he is a thief, rabble-rouser, and a trouble maker. But he becomes a leader, willing, hopeful, and dedicated. He is defiant, and still rebellious. He is also very s mischievous and always finds himself in trouble, he is also very flirtatious.
Louie's Mother: Louie's mother is liker her son loved mischief and pranks, when pushed she shoved. She sat outside her children's rooms, with a gun, she is strong willed, and very protective. After 13 months of everyone saying and pronouncing her son dead, she knew he wasn't. Through everything she still had some much hope and dedication.
Pete Zamperin: Pete Zamperini was Louie’s older brother. He excelled in everything he did. Louie lived in the shadow of his older brother. Louie was never given the attention and praise that Pete was. Pete was the star runner at Torrance High School and was the top of his graduating class. Pete always looked out for Louie and protected him from the punishment that Louie seemed to always find himself in. Trying to advert Louie’s passion for stealing and getting into trouble, Pete taught Louie how to run track. Louie quickly caught on and soon won the title as the star runner of the school. With Louie went on to become an Olympic runner because of Pete’s vigorous and valiant training.  Pete always tried to help Louie succeed and he did just that.  Pete never gave up hope on Louie when he went missing in the Marshall Islands as a Prisoner of War.
Russell Phillips (Phil): Phillips was a fellow soldier and best friend to Louie. Louie and Phillip were part of the same air force plane crew while fighting in World War II. Phil was the pilot and Louie was an airman for the Super Man Airplane crew. They quickly became close friends, especially bonding throughout dangerous missions and ruthless combat.
Mutsuhiro Watanbe: He was the warden and guard of the prisoner of war camp that Louie and his fellow soldiers were a part of. He was ruthless and hateful, especially towards Louie, who was everything Watanbe wasn't  successful, strong, loved, and praised. He tried to “break” Louie by restricting his meals, forcing him to stay in uncomfortable positions, and yelling at him.
